One thing that makes me very jealous is how women fall pregnant while on the pill. Anyone who has tried to concieve a child will know that you can be contraception free, having sex every day or every other day and still not fall pregnant. It can be very frustrating when you then hear that someone missed a pill and accidently fell pregnant, but there are some extremely fertile women out there and i guess whats meant to be will be.

I'm amazed that it is still legal for people to have abortions at 24weeks of pregnancy. Thats not just a bunch of cells that they are aborting thats a baby that they are removing. I do understand that in certain situations it is better for the mother to have an abortion because they aren't financially stable or too young etc. or i know if i was raped and found out i was pregnant i would consider an abortion but by 12 weeks people should have had enough time to decide and if they don't realize until after then well i think they shouldn't have it as an option.

I am also wondering if they are shown footage of their or another baby of similar gestation and told how developed it is. I mean babies have been born at 24weeks and survived. I know its not exactly a great option but maybe if you get to 24weeks and want an abortion you should consider having your baby and adopting it to someone how is dying to have a baby but can't. If your answer is 'no i couldn't go throug ...

I never thought that my sleep would be disrupted as soon as i feel pregnant but its one of the first things you notice when your going to the bathroom every five minutes (due to ithe increase in hormones) and unfortunately it continues through the night. I guess its just another one of the bodies perfect ways of preparing you for motherhood.

Then as you enter your second trimester and the hormones settle down and usually the toilet stops to, your belly starts to grow. This is when the fun starts! you can't sleep on your back or stomach and need lots and lots of pillows of different shapes to help you get comfy. As a minimum i recomend a pillow behind your back and one between your knees (some may like one under their belly to help support it. So if you need to roll over you need to move all your pillows. When you start to get really big you will have to do your roll over in three or four parts (this would always amuse my hubbie).

Add to this the excitement of b ...

I remember a few things that happened to me after giving birth that i never new could happen so thought i'd share so if it happens to anyone who reads this they'll know its normal.

Firstly after giving birth i would notice multiple times during the day that my shoulders were really tensed  (it felt like they were up by my ears)  and i would have to really concentrate on releasing the tension in them to get them to go back down. I didn't really feel stressed but i guess my body was trying to tell me that it was. It slowly started to happen less and less and by the time my daughter was around 6mths it had stopped.

I would also wake up with a fright 3-4 times a night. Id be dreaming that i was holding my daughter but then my hubbie would roll over and when the blankets moved i would think it was her falling out of bed, a few times i actually launched myself out of bed trying to catch her. I would also wake up my husband because when i woke up it ...

One of the first changes you will notice in your body (even before your stomach starts to grow), is your breasts will get bigger. This will delight your partner until he realizes he is no longer allowed to touch them! Your nipples, areola (the dark skin surrounding your nipples) and breasts will become tender and sore to touch. This is because your breast tissue is changing and growing milk ducts to feed your baby after the birth.

As soon as your breasts have outgrown your current bra's (this can happen as early as 12 weeks) it is a good idea to purchase soom new ones. Try to avoid bra's with underwires because the wires can stick into your breasts and cause blackages in the tissues. Ask for someone to measure you and be expertly fitted so you'll be comfortable.

Many women are unaware that their breasts may leak milk. Although it is more common with second pregnancies it can also happen during your first from around the 25 week mark. Your first milk is called c ...

The 12 week ultrasound

The 12 week mark is often a safety zone for alot of mums as their chance of miscarrige decreases greatly. This is also when you get to see your little baby in action (many mums may not feel pregnant, except for morning sickness etc. so to actually see their baby makes it all seem real).

This scan will also confirm your due date, check your babies growth rate, check for any abnormalities, and check the position of the placenta and amniotic fluid. But nothing beats seeing that little heart beat.

You will need to not eat for a number of hour before hand and drink a litre of water and hour before and not relieve yourself. So keep those legs closed ladies.

The study that has just been completed in the UK that suggests that 9 out of 10 babies that die from SIDS have mothers who smoked during their pregnancy was something that interested me greatly.

I used to smoke more than a pack a day and qit about 3 years before i fell pregnant so i know how hard it is. I can't understand how someone can smoke when they are pregnant, i often wonder if they realise that however hard they find it to quit is how hard their baby is going to find it when they leave their regular nicotine hit environment and are then forced to quit cold turkey. They don't get the choice, they don't get to cut down, they don't get to use patch's and they don't understand why, but along with everything else they are trying to adapt to they also have to adapt to quiting smoking. Could you ever get better motivation to quit?

I think it is great that the Australian Government is thinking of implimenting a better support program for pregnant smoki ...

Some scary frustraing things that happened/annoyed me during my pregnancy where:

When everyone felt the need to tell me a scary story that happened to a friend of afriend of afriend of theirs. I never understood why people couldn't just tell me their own story, why try to scare everyone. I know that there is always a chance that we can lose our babies whilst pregnant or during birth buts its not what i needed to hear.

It was also very frustrating when the 'have you had it yet' calls and text messages started. Considering i went 10days over i got alot of them and it annoyed me at the time. Now however i look back and am happy to have so many friends and family that were so excited to meet our baby. I guess those pregnancy hormones had a bit to do with it.

One thing i always had a giggle at was how complete strangers would come up and touch my belly and tell me what i should or shouldn't be doing followed by a story of what happened to a frien ...

Well today i thought i'd outline a few things that mums to do should start doing andthings we should stop doing once we start trying to concieve or if you find out your pregnant.

Lets start with things we should stop:

Smoking and Drinking, can effect your growing fetus's development so you should stop smoking and drinking for the remainder of your pregnancy. If you need advise or information on how to quit then contact your doctor.

Foods you should stop eating: deli meats, shellfish, soft cheese's, caffine (4 x cups of tea or 2 x cups of coffee max), undercooked meat or eggs, check with your doctor for which medications are safe and diet products (artificial sweetners).

Dieting: You need to increase your usual daily intake by 300cals. It is not recomended to try losing weight whilst you are pregnant unless advised otherwise by ...
